Sarah Angold for Freedom at Topshop

Hello everyone!

Topshop are known for their numerous collaborations with designers, both up-and-coming, and well established. Previous designer collections include Christopher Kane back in the day (anyone remember those animal tank tops?), JW Anderson's highland knitwear, Louise Gray's eccentric makeup and now, Sarah Angold for Freedom jewellery.

Sarah's studio creates both jewellery and lighting, and is "inspired by graphic shapes, mathematical structures and industrial processes". Her designs are sold worldwide but still made by hand in their East London studio, making each piece part of a limited collection. Check out their website here.

The exclusive diffusion range created for Topshop follows in the same vein, taking inspiration from "science fiction and classic art deco". See the whole collection here. Geometric shapes, mainly triangles and hexagons, are combined with futuristic colour spectrums to create a stunning series of statement necklaces and earrings, which are right on trend.

They're a little very pricey for accessories, but the designer exclusivity would make them worth it. If only I could afford them! A girl can dream haha.
Triple Drop Earrings / £30

Triangle Earrings / £35

Diamond Shape Earrings / £32

Four Hex Necklace / £52

Line Necklace / £60

Cut Out Necklace / £65

Layered Shape Necklace / £60

Every piece is gorgeous! Particularly love the two rounded necklaces at the end there.

Is any jewellery catching your eye lately?

6) Rose Print Swing Cami / ASOS / £35

Now my holiday is over and I am officially starting my dissertation reading for next year, as far as I'm concerned, AW 13 is just around the corner! I know, I know, our summer has only just really started with the recent good weather, but I personally prefer dressing for winter and have already started lusting over pieces for later in the year.

Checks were big news in the AW 13 shows, and I love how they are reminiscent of both the English countryside and American grunge. I'd probably wear this smock dress (1) with a shirt underneath, tights andddd, if I could afford them, the ridiculously cool Coltrane boots (3). In fact, the Coltrane's would go with everything on this wishlist AND in my wardrobe! I've wanted a pair for ages but it'll take some saving up ha.

This skirt (2) caught my eye at work last week, and it has been in my head ever since! I think it is really versatile, easily dressed up with a tailored shirt or more casual with a band tee and converse, and the slits on the side make it a little less granny and a lot more edgy.

The ASOS dress has been in my saved items ever since it came on the website! I think I will purchase this eventually, and am after a long sleeved mesh top to wear under it (suggestions welcome!).

And finally, midi rings are becoming more and more popular, and are an edgier alternative to normal rings. I could spend a fortune on Topshop jewellery, but the geometric shape of this one (5) makes it my favourite.

What have you got your eye on recently? Are you also a winter dresser??

Model Profile: Rosie Tapner

...I love your delicate way ♥♫

I thought I'd do a post today on a fairly new face that I've been seeing just about everywhere lately; 17 year old British beauty Rosie Tapner.

Rosie was spotted by a model scout 2 years ago at The Clothes Show Live, and has already featured in several Vogue shoots...

...the SS13 Topshop campaign (she stares down at me from behind the till every time I go in there!)....

...as well as signing a two-year exclusive deal to walk for Balenciaga.

Rosie is one of my favourite models at the moment, with her curly tousled hair, English-rose cheekbones and beautiful blue eyes. I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more of her in the future!

Outfit Post: Topshop Varsity Tee

Thought I'd follow the trend and start doing some outfit posts!

However, I'm not the most photogenic person in the world so a photo of the clothes laid out, ready to put on, will have to do.

Here's what I wore today:

Tee Shirt - Topshop // Jeggings - Topshop // Shoes - Vans at Schuh // Necklace - River Island
I only bought this tee recently; I wanted it since seeing it in the Topshop SS lookbook. I've already saw one girl wearing it today and can sense it will be something you'll see everywhere, but I liked it so much on that I don't care! It's nice and soft with a relaxed fit, and the sporty design reminds of an American Football jersey, a style I think looks really cool when dressed up a bit.
I teamed it with my light blue Topshop leggings as I was feeling summery (not sure why, it's freezing!), and, to carry on the monochrome trend I wore my black and white Vans. These Vans were an impulse buy, but I absolutely love them so they were definitely worth it! They're so comfortable I am sure I'll wear them to death.
To dress it up a bit I added my spiky silver necklace, I'm really into statement necklaces at the minute!
I think this top works both casually, and would also look really edgy with a more dressy, tailored skirt. It comes in black too, check out the white one here and the black one here. It's also in blue on an image on the Topshop website, but I haven't actually seen that one yet.
I'll leave you today with a great local band my friend introduced me to earlier from Middlesbrough, Collectors Club. Their song 'First to Know' is apparently playing on Made In Chelsea tonight, so if you watch that then listen out for it!
Here's another of their singles, 'Wanna Be You'. Enjoy!
Thanks for reading, I hope you like it!

Wish List - Checks, Grunge and Rock & Roll

'I need to remember...sometimes there's so much beauty in the world, I feel like I can't take it, and my heart is just going to cave in.'
-American Beauty

It was Pancake Day this week, or Shrove Tuesday, and traditionally we give up something, be it food or drink, for the duration of Lent, until Easter.

This year, instead of giving up a certain food, I have decided to give up buying clothes.

Now, to anyone that knows me, they will understand that I buy a LOT of clothes, so this is going to be seriously difficult, but I wanted to do it for two reasons; mainly because I need to reduce my spending and start saving, but also because I want to cut down on buying fast fashion that is easily disposable and doesn't mean anything to me.

So, as a way of tackling my shopping withdrawal symptoms, I thought I would do a Wish List every week or so, with high street pieces I've found and love, whether I would wear them or not.

This week, it's an American theme, a style that never really goes out of fashion whether it be cowboys, denim, checks or varsity jackets. Topshop, my main place of worship, has a gorgeous collection centred around this (90's Grunge), but there are great pieces elsewhere on the high street too.

Moodboard Images (from www.favim.com, Vogue UK, Topshop):

Soundtrack:
The Civil Wars - 'Barton Hollow'
Nirvana - 'The Man Who Sold The World'
Avenged Sevenfold - 'Dear God'

Here are some of my ideas on this trend:

Glory Dress by Rebel Republic, £28,
http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=4702654&langId=-1&categoryId=&parent_category_rn=&searchTerm=glory%20dress&resultCount=1

I LOVE this dress. Its midi length, authentic logo and slubby jersey material scream Americana; I would team it with bare legs, black ankle boots and a vintage denim jacket.

MOTO Bleach Flag Print Hotpant, £34,
http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=4380094&langId=-1&categoryId=&parent_category_rn=&searchTerm=flag%20print%20hotpants&resultCount=1

MOTO Acid Denim Hotpants, £32, http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=4668123&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=208529&parent_categoryId=203984&pageSize=200

Okay, I know the Stars and Stripes shorts were a bit of an obvious choice, but you get the point. The worn-in look of both these pairs of shorts add to the weathered feel of this style, and the acid pink ones provide a pop of colour to avoid a denim overload.

Fleetwood Mac Vest By And Finally, £20, http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=4837933&langId=-1&categoryId=&parent_category_rn=&searchTerm=rumours&resultCount=1

Sleeveless Grunge Check Shirt, £26, http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=4291925&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=208524&parent_categoryId=203984&pageSize=200&refinements=category~[209729|208524]&noOfRefinements=1

Black Ruched Waist Maxi Skirt, £30, http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=2390358&langId=-1&categoryId=&parent_category_rn=&searchTerm=ruched%20waist%20maxi&resultCount=1
PARAGON Zip Front High Sandals, £90, http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=4285976&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=208544&parent_categoryId=208492&pageSize=200

I love these four as separates, but I also think they would look great as an outfit. The understated cool of the 'Rumours' vest (one of my all time favourite albums!) works well with the classic checked shirt, with the maxi skirt and edgy zip detail heels giving them an edge. You could even dress it down by replacing the heels with some quirky Converse hi tops or Dr. Martens, other signatures of American style.

I realise this post is very Topshop-centred, but that's just where I found some inspiration! I promise to show more of a variety in posts to come!

Enjoy,

Sophie.
